Born into a farming family in Mandwa, a small village in the Beed district of Maharashtra, Sable had a humble beginning. Due to the lack of transportation, he would often run or walk 6 kilometers to and from school. This early physical endurance would later serve him well in his athletic career. During his junior college years, Sable worked on construction sites and brick kilns to support his family.
After completing 12th grade, Sable joined the Indian Army in the 5 Mahar regiment. He was posted in some of the most challenging terrains, including the Siachen Glacier, north-western Rajasthan, and Sikkim, which helped him develop the mental and physical toughness required for his future as an athlete. It was during his time in the army that his potential as a long-distance runner was recognized, and he shifted his focus to steeplechase under the guidance of coach Amrish Kumar.

Sable’s rise to prominence began in 2018 when he broke a 37-year-old national record in the 3000 metres steeplechase at the National Open Championships in Bhubaneswar. He went on to break his own national records multiple times, marking his name in Indian athletics history.
In 2019, he represented India at the Asian Athletics Championships, where he won a silver medal. Later that year, he qualified for the World Athletics Championships and became the first Indian male steeplechaser in 28 years to qualify for the event. He also broke his national record during the World Championships, further establishing himself as one of the top steeplechasers in the world.
Sable continued his record-breaking streak in the 2020 Summer Olympics, Commonwealth Games 2022, and multiple Diamond League events, consistently lowering his times.
