IPL 2024 is already being played out by the 10 franchises. However, the full schedule of IPL 2024 was confirmed on March 25, 2024, by the IPL Governing Committee. It was announced that the playoffs will take place in Ahmedabad and Chennai. Each team will be using their home venues despite the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. BCCI has made it clear that IPL won’t shift due to the elections.
CSK vs RCB kicked off the IPL 2024 on March 22, 2024, at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. This was the only match that began at 8:00 PM IST in the tournament. The rest of the matches will either start at 3:30 PM IST or 7:30 PM IST. The first match of the tournament was delayed by half an hour due to the opening ceremony in which many Bollywood celebrities performed.
IPL Schedule has locked the dates till May 26, 2024. The tournament will conclude on May 26, with the final at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai. All 10 teams will play 14 matches each in the group stage. Each team will face five other teams twice and the rest of the four teams once in the tournament. The format for IPL 2024 is the same as the format of IPL 2023.
The top two teams from the group stage will play Qualifier 1, and the team that wins this match will advance directly to the final. On the other hand, the team which will lose this match is going to play Qualifier 2 against the winner of the Eliminator. Finally, the winner of Qualifiers 2 and 1 will square off in the final at Chepauk.
