Throughout his career, Paes consistently demonstrated his skill, winning titles across three decades, including his mixed doubles Wimbledon title in 2015 and a French Open title in 2016. This accomplishment made him only the second man, after Rod Laver, to win titles at Wimbledon across three decades.

    Paes represented India in seven consecutive Olympic Games, the first Indian and the only tennis player to achieve this feat, winning a bronze medal in men’s singles at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. He also made history as the most decorated male tennis player in Asian Games history, winning 5 gold medals and 3 bronze medals.

    In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Paes received several prestigious awards, including the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna in 1996–97, the Padma Shri in 2001, and the Padma Bhushan in 2014. Paes retired from professional tennis in 2020 and was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame on July 20, 2024.
