India Tour to South Africa in November 2024- Schedule for T20I Series Announced

India is set to tour South Africa in November this year to play a series of four T20 Internationals. The matches will be held between November 8 and 15 at Durban, Gqeberha, Centurion, and Johannesburg.

These T20Is were originally scheduled for India’s 2021 tour of South Africa, but were postponed due to a surge in COVID-19 cases. During that tour, India played only three Tests and three ODIs, with South Africa winning both series. The T20Is were later planned to be rescheduled but had not yet found a suitable window. During a subsequent tour in December 2023, India played an all-format series that included three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests. The T20I and Test series ended in a 1-1 draw, while India won the ODI series 2-1.

India Tour to South Africa in November 2024- Schedule for T20I Series Announced

Here is the schedule for India’s T20I tour of South Africa in 2024:

    • 1st T20I: November 8 – Kingsmead, Durban
    • 2nd T20I: November 10 – St George’s Park, Gqeberha
    • 3rd T20I: November 13 – SuperSport Park, Centurion
    • 4th T20I: November 15 – Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg

Hosting India is financially significant for many boards, including Cricket South Africa (CSA). Broadcast revenues from each T20 match exceed R150 million (US $8.4 million), which is crucial for CSA, given their recent financial loss of R119 million.

Lawson Naidoo, CSA chairperson, expressed gratitude to the BCCI, stating, “I would like to thank the BCCI for their continued support to South African cricket and world cricket in general. Any tour by the Indian cricket team to our shores brings great camaraderie and exciting cricket, and I know our fans will be eagerly awaiting this series, which will showcase the exceptional talent from both teams.”

India Cricket Team Schedule Before Champions Trophy 2025

The Indian cricket team is gearing up for a significant challenge with the Champions Trophy on the horizon. The situation has become even more intriguing with Jay Shah set to assume the role of ICC chairman. One of the key points of speculation is the venue for the Champions Trophy, especially with the possibility of India traveling to Pakistan.

In addition to the venue, there is much discussion about the Indian team’s preparations. The T20 World Cup 2024 champions recently played three T20Is and three ODIs against Sri Lanka. Before that, they enjoyed a successful tour of Zimbabwe, winning 4-1 in the ODI series and 3-0 in the T20Is. However, the ODI series against Sri Lanka saw an unexpected outcome, with India losing 2-0.

ICC Announces Revised Women’s T20 World Cup Schedule- IND vs PAK on October 6

India will face Pakistan on October 6, three days after the tournament kicks off with an opener between Bangladesh and Scotland, as the ICC revealed a revised schedule for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. India will begin their campaign against New Zealand on October 4. Originally set to be held in Bangladesh, the Women’s T20 World Cup was relocated by the ICC due to concerns over security stemming from the ongoing political unrest in the country.

Ten teams will compete in 23 matches over 18 days of thrilling action at two venues in the UAE: the Dubai International Cricket Stadium and the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Group A features six-time champions Australia, along with India, New Zealand, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Group B includes Bangladesh, England, South Africa, West Indies, and Scotland. Each team will play four group matches at the two venues.

The tournament will commence with Bangladesh taking on Scotland in Sharjah, followed by Pakistan facing off against Asia Cup champions Sri Lanka. South Africa, runners-up in 2023, will open their T20 World Cup campaign against the West Indies on October 4 in Dubai.

Defending champions Australia, the most successful team in T20 World Cup history, will start their campaign on October 5 in Sharjah against Sri Lanka. The much-anticipated clash between India and Pakistan is scheduled for October 6 in Dubai.

The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, where they will face the second-placed team from the opposite group. Semi-final 1 is set for October 17 in Dubai, and Semi-final 2 will take place on October 18 in Sharjah. Should India progress, they will compete in Semi-final 1. Both the semi-finals and the final have reserve days allocated.

The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup champion will be crowned on October 20 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

Scotland and Sri Lanka secured their spots in the tournament through the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier held earlier this year in Abu Dhabi.

Ten warm-up matches will be held at the Sevens Stadium and the ICC Academy grounds in Dubai from September 28 to October 1, building up excitement for the tournament.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) retains its hosting rights while partnering with the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) to ensure the event’s successful execution.

BCCI Revises Schedule for India’s Home Series Against Bangladesh and England: Gwalior Replaces Dharamsala as T20I Venue

The first T20I between India and Bangladesh, originally scheduled for December 6 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala, has been shifted to Gwalior as the BCCI announced a revised schedule for India’s home series. The season will kick off with a two-match Test series against Bangladesh starting on September 19.

While the venues for the two Tests against Bangladesh and the three Tests against New Zealand remain unchanged, minor adjustments have been made to some of the white-ball fixtures against Bangladesh and England. The BCCI stated that the decision to move the first T20I from Dharamsala to Gwalior was due to ongoing repair work in the dressing rooms at the HPCA Stadium.

“The first T20I between India and Bangladesh, originally set for October 6, 2024, in Dharamsala, will now be held in Gwalior due to upgrades and renovation work being carried out by the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association in the dressing rooms,” the board announced in a release.

The match in Gwalior will be the inaugural international fixture at the city’s new Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, and the first since the historic India-South Africa ODI in 2010, where Sachin Tendulkar became the first male cricketer to score a double century in ODIs.

Additionally, the BCCI has made a notable change to the venues for the T20I series against England. The venues for the first and second T20Is have been swapped at the request of the Kolkata Police to the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). Chennai, initially set to host the first T20I, will now host the second, while Kolkata will host the opening T20I instead of the second. The dates for the first T20I (January 22, 2025) and the second T20I (January 25, 2025) remain unchanged. The venue swap was necessitated due to Kolkata Police’s prior commitments related to Republic Day.

India Tour of Sri Lanka 2024 Schedule

Team India has already departed for Sri Lanka for a 3-match T20 and ODI series starting on July 27. Suryakumar Yadav will lead the T20 team, while veteran skipper Rohit Sharma will return to captain the ODI side. The series has garnered significant attention as it marks Gautam Gambhir’s debut as the coach, following his appointment by the BCCI earlier this month after leading KKR to their third IPL title this year.

Several players from the T20 World Cup-winning team will make a comeback during this series. Although Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from T20 cricket and Jasprit Bumrah has been given an extended rest, key players like Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Shivam Dube, and Arshdeep Singh will return to action.

Kohli and Rohit will be back in India colors for the ODI leg of the series. The two veterans are expected to be in a favorable position, following a statement from newly appointed coach Gambhir, indicating that they are being considered for the ODI World Cup in 2027.
